BA (Hons) Digital Animation

The BA (Hons) Digital Animation course permits creative individuals to develop the proficiency necessary to become a successful new media animator. Digital Animation provides the opportunity to study traditional animation skills using new digital technology. Students receive a thorough grounding in the principles of animation and are encouraged to develop both creatively and technically. They are expected to gain proficiency in a wide range of digital media to create their own unique style.

This course equips students for a wide range of career directions. The goal of the course is to provide animation for broadcast; an example of this was a student who recently won an E4 sting competition that resulted in their animation being broadcast. Last year we had three animations short-listed for the British Animation Awards.

We actively encourage input from the industry: Dreamworks and Cosgrove Hall have been instrumental in our course development. Recent speakers have included Ray Harryhausen, Disney USA, Framestore and a representative from Dreamworks. Students are encouraged to develop their work for their intended medium, for example games, the Internet and multimedia.
