BA (Hons) Digital Arts

Our aim on the BA Digital Arts is to enable a new generation of contemporary artists to develop a creative and intellectual flexibility in the increasingly diverse field of Digital media. The emphasis is on an in-depth exploration of Digital tools for creative inquiry in a Fine Art context. By adopting a critical investigation of technology and culture, the course encourages personal exploration through creative projects in interactive media.

The course enables students to engage with contemporary art practices using well-equipped computer studios running the full range of the latest software for 3D, image editing, video, physical computing, digital networks and interactive artwork. Digital Arts is designed to allow students to explore a broad range of practical digital media techniques using industry standard software suites while learning about the design, history and theory of new media.

Students develop their own direction as artists, and are encouraged to experiment and innovate. Our award winning staff are active in research as independent Artists, and have made recognised contributions in the fields of three-dimensional environments, conscious art networks and installation.
